Santos Rocha Municipal Museum | May 9, 2023

On May 9, 2023, a working session took place at the Santos Rocha Municipal Museum, in which TRANSMAT project fellow Maria Figueira presented some new data related to the biographies of a group of objects on display at the Museum. 

The working session, which brought together the Museum’s technical team and the project’s team, focused on three objects, identified in the Museum as Nkisi, and currently on display in the central showcase of the Museum’s Ethnography room.

TRANSMAT’s research on these objects led to a deeper understanding about certain aspects related to the processes of constitution and incorporation of the collections into the Municipal Museum. The team was able to identify the specific agents and contexts of acquisition associated to these objects, therefore contributing to a more detailed and complete knowledge of the political and economic historical contexts associated with the collection of the three objects (inventory number: 99-F-002; 02-F-001; 02-F-003).
