TRANSMAT Mission at the African Museum

Royal Museum for Central Africa (Tervuren, Belgium) | June 22-24, 2022

Under the invitation of the Director General, Guido Gryseels, the TRANSMAT project was presented at the Africa Museum, in Tervurem (Belgium), between the 22nd and 24th of June 2022.

Elisabete Pereira, principal investigator (PI), and Jorge Rivera, member of the team, had the opportunity to explain the intent and objectives of TRANSMAT, and were able to participate, with colleagues from MUSEUMLAB (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst), Nathalie Keurmeur (Humboldt Forum) and Blessings M . Walawala (Conservation at Department of Museums and Monuments, Malawi), in an intense program of visits, debate and discussion with several researchers of the Africa Museum: Dirk Van Roy, Jacky Maniacky, Mieke van Es, Els Cornelissen, Maarten Couttenier , Lies Busselen (Provenance research project), Sofie Bouillon (Provenance trail), Hein Van Hee, Vicky Van Bockhaven (Afrisurge Project), Dieter Van Hassel (head of archives and collections documentation section) and Siska Genbrugge (head of section restoration and collection management).
