Poster Ciclo de Conversas

Organized by IN2PAST and the Santos Rocha Municipal Museum, following on from the research and initiatives developed by the «TRANSMAT – Transnational Materialities (1850-1930): reconstituting collections and connecting histories» project, the main objective of this series of talks was to discuss the colonial legacy and its role in Portuguese museums, with a special focus on ethnographic collections and knowledge production, while also discussing contemporary museum practices and the challenges of decolonization.

The initiative took place in the context of the exhibition of the same name, on display at the museum until October 31, 2025, with sessions held on the last Saturday of each month and on the first Saturday of August, always at 3 p.m.

Participants: Researchers from the IN2PAST research centers (IHC, Lab2PT, CRIA, CHAIA, ICS, IHA, CITAR, i2ADS, CITCEM, HERCULES Laboratory), artists, curators, writers, teachers, and local personalities such as Pedro Mota Curto (Director of the Figueira Mar School Group) and Andrea Gaspar (Anthropologist and teacher), as well as writer and researcher Aristóteles Kandimba, founder of the Coletivo Tributo aos Ancestrais PT (Tribute to the Ancestors Collective), among others.
